THE INQUIRY
What this book
asks of us.
An organisation can recover its records and still lose the understanding built around them. What Accumulates asks what security must protect when business meaning, learned exceptions and institutional memory increasingly reside in systems that act.
ABOUT BOOK III
Memory.
A closer look.
The programme: protecting organisational memory.
The book follows value beyond the data itself: into the relationships, definitions and accumulated corrections that let an organisation make sense of its work. Some of that understanding is the result of years of judgement. Rebuilding the software or restoring a database does not necessarily recreate the history that made it useful.
The evidence ladder from Book Two becomes a way to examine attacks on instructions, actions, memory and the verifier. Existing threats are considered alongside explicitly constructed future scenarios, including memory ransom, the theft of an organisation's working theory and agents relying on one another.
The final movement is a programme for practitioners: recognise the assets, establish lineage, decide what should be retained or forgotten, and describe recovery in terms of what would actually be lost. Every control must be clear about whether it prevents a capability, supervises behaviour or relies on trust, and where the remaining trust has been placed.
Who this book is for
For security practitioners and leaders in risk, audit, engineering and governance who need to make practical decisions about AI-enabled organisations and the knowledge those organisations stand to lose.
THE SHAPE OF THE BOOK
Inside the argument.
Explore the movements of Book III.
01The Shape of Every Era
How the location of value changes, and why security can remain focused on the assets of the previous era.
02The Ladder as Attack Surface
Attacks on words, actions, accumulated memory and the systems or people doing the verification.
03The Threats We Have Not Had Yet
Constructed scenarios that test what memory loss, forged lineage and agent relationships could mean for organisations.
04What the Practitioner Does
Asset registers, prevention, control, lineage, recovery and the governance of whatever uncertainty remains.
